The need to compile a register is due to the fact that, currently, there is no data on agricultural machines that are not subject to roadway registration or that do not use concessionary agricultural fuel.

It is estimated that there are several million of these machines in Italy, and even in relation to machines that are considered dangerous to humans and the environment - such as sprayers that use hazardous chemicals - there is no data available on the precise number of such machines, their age or distribution across the territory.

Work is currently focused on the development of an initial section of the register in three pilot regions. Once complete, this should allow for the implementation of a system that can function at national level, offering useful information for the policies to be adopted by the industry.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has recently published a request for applications in order to select an individual with the capacity to oversee the initial stages in the creation of the register, and Enama will be charged with the responsibility of monitoring its development.
