ANTAMThe Asian and Pacific Network for Testing of Agricultural Machinery (ANTAM) - launched in 2013 by UN-ESCAP/CSAM in Bangkok- is the first network in the Asian region whose purpose is to promote fairer and more open trade and sustainable use of Agricultural machines and, at the same time, to implement common safety requirements for operators, environment and food production and for the development of better performances.
Moreover, ANTAM aims to promote greater harmonization of standards, testing procedures and certification systems for agricultural mechanization for a better quality of agriculture, on which will be built the new incentive mechanisms in the Member States.
It is made up of 18 Asian States and various Research Institutes, Associations of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers and Agricultural Professional Organizations, and works closely with FAO, UNIDO, OECD and ENAMA/ENTAM to promote sustainable agricultural mechanization.
Intensive co-operation between the various stakeholders provides farmers with easy access to high-tech agricultural machinery that will enable them to be more efficient and safe. ANTAM represents a regional platform for member countries that can pool technological know-how and skills, sharing best practices to promote the best quality of agricultural machinery.
During the First Annual Meeting, held in Beijing in September 2014, the operating structure was approved with specific competences and responsibilities that will guarantee impartiality in order to create more synergies between all involved parties.
Since 2006 ENAMA has participated in the establishment of the Asian Network and has been officially appointed as Technical Reference Unit of ANTAM. As such, ENAMA will provide regulatory, procedural and technical support. Moreover ENAMA, as an independent member, will provide consultation on the conformity of the documents produced following the tests carried out by the member States. ENAMA is an official member of the Advisory Committee of the The Asian and Pacific Network for Testing of Agricultural Machinery (ANTAM) together with UN-ESCAP/CSAM, FAO, UNIDO and OECD.
ENAMA's role is an important and valid connection between ANTAM and all international organizations (FAO, UNIDO, OECD) with ENTAM.
