CE Homologation

The CE homologation can affect the tractor or its components and is a fundamental step to place on the market agricultural and forestry tractors.

The CE homologation is the procedure whereby an homologation Authority certifies that a type of vehicle, system, component or separate technical unit is in compliance with the relevant technical and administrative regulations - (EU) n.167/2013 of the European Parliament and Board of February 5th, 2013 concerning the approval and vigilance of agricultural and forestry vehicles market.

As from January 1st, 2016 this regulation- also known to insiders as "Mother Regulation" - repealed and replaced the previous regulation (2003/37/CE) and all the partial CE homologations allowing, however, the possibility (only for the vehicles complying with the previous regulation) to be place on market and to be register before December 31st, 2017.
This applies specifically to the following vehicles:
  • tractors (categories T and C);
  • trailers (category R);
  • interchangeable towed equipment (category S).
Only for the below specified class of vehicles, the manufacturer can choose to request homologation as for the new CE regulation or comply with the relevant national regulations:
  • trailers (category R);
  • interchangeable towed equipment (category S);
  • wheeled tractors for special use (T4.1 and T4.2 categories);
  • caterpillars (category C).
